We must maintain the balance of the diamond grinding wheel when installing it, so as to ensure that the diamond grinding wheel can work normally. Next, we will briefly introduce how to maintain the balance of the diamond grinding wheel during installation. Generally, diamond grinding wheels with a diameter greater than 125mm must be balanced so that the diamond grinding wheel coincides with its axis of rotation.
Unbalanced diamond grinding wheels will vibrate when rotating at high speeds, which will affect the processing quality and accuracy of the machine tool. In severe cases, it will also cause damage to the diamond grinding wheel and chipping of the diamond grinding wheel. The main causes of imbalance are the uneven density of each part of the diamond grinding wheel, asymmetric geometric shape and eccentric installation. Therefore, balance must be performed before installing the diamond grinding wheel. The balance of the diamond grinding wheel has two types: static balance and dynamic balance.
In this case, only static balance is required, but dynamic balance is required for high-speed milling (speed greater than 50m/s) and high-profile grinding. When balancing, the grinding wheel is installed on the balance mandrel, and then the grinding wheel with the mandrel is placed on the balance guide rail of the balance frame. The grinding wheel will swing back and forth until the swing stops. The balanced grinding wheel can stand still in any position.
If the diamond wheel is unbalanced, its heavier part always turns to the bottom. At this time, the position of the balance weight can be moved to achieve balance. A well-balanced diamond grinding wheel must be inspected for cracks before being installed on the spindle of the machine tool. Cracked diamond grinding wheels are not allowed to be used. During installation, a 0.5-1 volume elastic backing plate should be installed between the diamond grinding wheel and the flange: two methods The diameter of the flange is equal, and its size is generally half of the diameter of the diamond grinding wheel. There should be a certain gap between the grinding wheel and the grinding wheel shaft or step flange to prevent the spindle from being thermally expanded and cracking the diamond grinding wheel.
The method of balancing the diamond grinding wheel: install several balance weights in the annular groove of the flange of the diamond grinding wheel, and adjust the position of the balance weight to make the diamond grinding wheel coincide with its rotation axis.
